2018 was quite a year. It was bizarre, confusing, yet delightful, and life changing year for me. The year started with me freezing my ass off because I was watching the fireworks display by the Delaware River Waterfront. I attended Fashion Week for the second time in February, and graduated university in early May. My graduation was particularly exciting because my mother was stupid proud, and I am the first in my family to graduate from college. Less than a month later, I headed to Barcelona, Spain, which was my first trip to Europe as part of a study abroad program.
In Barcelona, I met some wonderful people who I have come to adore so dearly. My palette was almost invaded by unseasoned food, but instead, I cooked and saved myself a money and the disappointment. I attended my first pride celebration in Sitges, and it was awesome. I ventured with my roomie to Rome for my birthday, and checked out some sites. I also got my first ever tan lines, and for once my face and the rest of my body had the same skin tone. This never happens, so it is worth mentioning. We headed back to Barcelona, had a blast interning, and I lived my best life.
The journey continued in Istanbul, Turkey where I also met another group of wonderful people, and ate wonderfully seasoned food. I then went to Helsinki then headed to Iceland. My time was cut short but I got to go home a few days early to see my mother.
The job search then started which was a pain in itself. False advertisements will be the death of me. I went on so many interviews that were looking for PR graduates, but most of them turned out to be sales. Other times, it just didn’t work out. It seems I am expected to have five years of experience to get the job I wanted. I was stressed and unemployed for almost four months until I was finally hired a few days ago. So, for now I’m good.
Student loans are approaching, but I shall be fine. Let’s hope that 2019 looks even better, brighter, and may there be more celebrating, thriving, surviving and living. Most importantly, may I smile more :).
As I drink this glass of beer, I want to say cheers to you all! I hope you had a great 2018 and I wish you a fruitful 2019.
Until Next Time…
